Butterflies in your stomach, sweaty palms, excessive breathing. Sounds like someone has an audition coming up. Don’t worry, I myself have gone through this many times as well. It’s totally normal to be nervous before an audition, so I am here to give you some tips on how to get rid of nerves before an audition. There are different methods you can use to help keep you calm so you can rock your audition. You must also keep in mind that everyone has a different way of getting rid of their nerves, but just remember what works for one person may not work for another person. I hope these tips help.
The first thing you should do is trying to find a quiet space where you can just sit in silence and focus on your breathing for a minute or two. You have to make sure that you take deep breaths because this will help control your breathing and give you some time to relax. Another trick that can help is trying warm ups like tongue twisters; such as red leather yellow leather, unique New York, or saying red bulb blue bulb repeatedly. This will help to warm up your vocal chords and release some tension in your body. Finally, the last thing is focusing on yourself, and not worrying or comparing yourself to the other actors, and remember to just enjoy yourself and let your audition just flow.
